Citadel solitaire rules (1 deck of cards)<< Cicely | Club >>

Goal: All 4 aces, and possibly more cards, are set out as they appear during the deal. Build them up to king in the same suit.

While the layout is being dealt, cards are immediately moved to the ace piles if they can. If it's an ace, a new dealt card takes its place. Otherwise dealing continues to the next pile.

Build the 8 piles of the layout down in any suit. Empty piles can be filled with any card.

You can only move one card at a time. Each empty pile doubles the number of cards you can move, since multiple moves would allow it.

Variation of: Beleaguered Castle

Difference: Rather than moving out the aces right away, they wait until they turn up during the deal. All cards move to the ace piles if they can during the deal.

This also has its own variation: Exiled Kings

This is the easiest variation of Beleaguered Castle to win. The number of cards that start in the ace piles depends on the random shuffle.
