Windmill (Relaxed) solitaire rules (2 decks of cards)<< Windmill | Wood >>

Goal: One ace is set in the center. Build the ace up to king in any suit, then back to ace again to repeat 4 complete cycles. Move out 4 of the kings when you can and build them down to ace in any suit.

Four 'sails' (or 'wings') of a windmill are dealt 2 cards each, radiating from its center. There is no building onto these 8 cards, but each is available for play onto the ace and the king piles. Cards are replaced from the deck.

Turn over one card at a time from the deck, playing the top card when you can.

Transferring cards from the king piles to the ace pile (or vice versa) can be helpful in bringing cards from the sails into play. However, the initial king or ace can not be transferred.

Variation of: Windmill

Difference: The rule that does not allow consecutive cards to be played from one foundation pile to another has been lifted.

This variation allows a lot of manipulation of the foundation piles to bring cards from the sails into play. You can transfer any number of cards from a king pile to the ace pile, or vice versa.

It is not uncommon to see this rule lifted in modern implementations.
